Shivapalit vs Vishnupalit [A study]

Once a great astrologer came up with a great concept that, the world is divided into two types of people.

• Shivapalit jataka
• Vishnu Palitha jataka

1. The learned man’s contention was that Sun, Moon, Mars, Jupiter, form one group [Vishnu palitha].
2. And Venus Mercury and Saturn fall in another group [Shiva Palitha].
3. Lagnas belonging to Leo, Cancer, Pisces, Sagittarius, Scorpio and Aries are Vishnu Palita.
4. Lagnas belonging to Gemini, Virgo, Taurus, Libra, Aquarius, Capricorn come under Shiva Palita.
5. Shiva Palita are blessed with ample wealth luxuries, and are inclined to material world and happiness and pray Lord Shiva, Parvati, Shakti, Bhairav etc.
6. Vishnu Palita jatakas are into gyana bhakti vairagya, intellectual pursuits, struggling and poor.
7. If Shiva Palita is suffering and wants come out of his sufferings, he must resort to Shaiva pooja, only then he will get riches and fame, however hard he tries to please Vishnu and other linked Deities he would never get results. So such people if they want riches and fame they should appease non Vaishnav deities.
8. Similarly If Vishnu Palit Jataka are into sufferings due to prarabdha, if by any chance these are visiting Shakti temples or Shiva Kshetras, these will never be rewarded with results instead their sufferings will increase. But on the contrary if they resort to Vishnu aradhana, they will prosper instantly.
9. Shiva Palita jatakas have chakras rising from mooladhara to Sahasrar.
10. Vishnu Palita jataka has flow of chakras [energy] from Sahasrar to Moolesha.

It was an interesting research although, but I did not find any supportive testimony to accept it, neither did the gentleman tried to give one. But he was so firm in his belief, that just at a look at the horoscope, he would ask the people to discontinue their Vishnu aradhana or Shiva Aradhana.

• His belief fortified when a person serving in Mantralayam with Vishnu mantra japa for 12 years could not get success and went to this astrologer, he said you are Mithuna lagna Rayaru will not listen to you, you must resort to Panchakshari. He accepted his words and suddenly next year he accomplished his desire, and thanked the astrologer and went away to his native.
• Second came a Vedanti he was practising intense Yoga, but could not enter the Sahasrar for as many as five years. He could not enter sahasrar and his energies would lapse back into mooladhar as he forced his way to Sahasrar. The astrologer said, you are Vishnu palita your mode of practise is wrong, go perform Hanuman seva for 48 days, you will enter Sahasrar . He agreed and then he was successful .
• All these and several other cases made him believe intensely in the theory.

• So I thought to give it a study .
• The basis would render a simple division of humanity into two parts, just on the basis of Lagna .
  • Not acceptable as there are many Vishnu bhaktas with lagna in Mithuna or Vrishabha, or Kumbha, and they are intensely devotional. Although they may not be completely detached .
• Secondly what about those whose Shaiva lagnas are aspected by Vishnu palita grahas, and vice versa
  • We do not get any explanation, as this should render people to resort to both upasanas .
• The research can be more termed as success in Upasanas of a person
  • No text attributes upasana to lagna
  • Upasana is studied from fifth house, twelfth house
  • Upasana is studied from Amatya karaka 
  • Also from fifth from Atma karaka 
  • Upasana is also studied from Vimsamsa and chaturvimsamsa
• The research can also be termed as teaming of deva paksha with Rakshas paksha, Jupiter as Dev Guru and and Shukra as Daitya guru.
  • Here too Planets friendly with Jupiter are termed as Dev and Venus group is malefic.
  • Malefics in Puranas are known to resort to Shiva and never to Vishnu.
  • But attaining this distinction on mere Lagna ownership cannot be justified, because that would render all malefic owned Lagnas ineffective for VIshnu Bhakti and vice versa.
  • This research makes sense, but where to draw distinction is only difficult but definitely lagna in rashi cannot form such distinction.
  • Let us examine some alternates.
• The Navamsa in the horoscope is divided into Dev, Manushya and Rakshasa category
  • But I have found most devoted also coming under the Rakshsas category in Navamsa.
  • So Navamsa while can say which root the soul belongs to, but cannot declare him to be anti shiva or anti vaishnav. As Prahlad being Rakshasa was a known Vishnu devotee. Jayant a devta has gone against Ram.
• The drekkana gives three distinction of Narada, Agastya and Doorvasa, denoting, bhakti yoga, gnyana yoga and karma yoga.
  • Here distinction of Shiva and Vishnu palita cannot be achieved by mere means of  sadhana.
• The Akshavedaamsa gives the distinction of jataka on the basis of Vishnu, Shiva and Bramha.
  • But all Shaiva bhaktas did not show their lagna falling under Shiva.
  • Nor did Vishnu Bhaktas have their lagnas falling under Vishnu amsa.
  • Bramha amsa is an addition here.
  • By far this is the closest in accepting the theory, but theory need modification, and has to take into account the fact that humanity can be divided into:
    • Vishnu palit
    • Bramha Palit
    • Shiva Palit
  • But the onus of distinction should lie with choosing one among the Lagna, Sun [atma], Moon, Atma karaka, And other special lagna. The one with most strength.
• Finally Parashar muni says there are four types of people based on lagna: Uttama, Madhyam, Adhama and Udaseena.
  • This is based on planets in udayarashi.
  • Shodashamsa divides lagna into Bramha, Vishnu, Shiva and Surya amsha.
  • Shodashamsha is more concerned with happiness of the people.
• The learned should take this as just a study and not as conclusive or affirmative.

Samay and Kaalpurush

Time is beginning-less and endless. Yet the seconds that we count begins and ends. Thus time has both the qualities of being nitya and anitya . Hence it is nityaanitya. As a Kshana and muhurtha it is anitya, but as a flow of time it is eternal. The Lord as time is known as Kaalpurush. Lord creates and destroys this world in a kshana. What is kshana to Vishnu is a life time for a Bramha and Bramha kalpa is many crores of years for us on earth. Thus kaal pravah is undaunted. The time that has gone by is unique and does not repeat. Only Lord Vishnu is always present at all times . Sri Mahalakshmi is also present along with Lord Vishnu at all times. Thus she shares with him the quality of being timeless. Kaltah samaan. 

Lakshmi is dukhasprushta, that she does not have grief in any form, Lord Vishnu is always sukhpurush. Independent, Lakshmi though dependent on Vishnu is still untouched by grief. Rest all souls are subjected to dukha [grief]. The cosmic time is recorded through Navgrahas and saptarishis in a creation. Thus a given time is unique in features and mutually exclusive with other moment, thus the attributes attached to this moment is completely different than the next moment. This an ordinary brain cannot decipher. Thus astrology and its learning becomes unending exercise, because humanly it is not possible to know what exactly is going to happen this moment, this moment at this place is different than this moment at another place and events at these two different places are subject to planetary conditions . Thus every moment becomes a research in its own way making astrology a vast subject to just marvel at, and leaves us all gasping for more and more understanding.

What are Planets?

Planets are not just mass of elements in space that have extraneous influence on the humans and world affairs. These influence cannot be termed as a result of some gravitational, or electromagnetic, or other cosmic influence on each other and on the system as a whole. The popular methodology to seek scientific explanation for each and every phenomena around us does not apply to planetary system. The ways of God are systematic. Anything systematic and organized is scientific, but they need not be physically evident through some bizarre interaction of rays emanating from planets. Seeking such understandings and explanations would be erroneous. 

So what are planets and how do they influence us?

The plane in which we are living is Bhuloka. The plane above this is known as Antariksha Loka or Bhuvarloka. This Bhuvarloka is below Swarga loka and is full of Planets, sub-planets and stars. Some group of stars from Rasi. Thus entire Bhuvarloka is subdivided into 12 Rasis or Bhachakra. Above this Bhachakra are innumerable stars. The entire Bhuvarloka is Supported by Lord Narayana in the form Shimshumara. The various limbs of this Lord are various stars, Rasi and Planets. This is half human and half scorpion body. The tail of the scorpion is towards the Swarga and Head is atop the MERU. The tail edge consists of Dhruva the pole star. It is the Dhruva through which the entire Bhuvarloka and bhachakra are bound along with the planets.

The Planets are governed by the Devatas by Name Sun, Moon etc. These have normal bodies as well as Astral bodies. How can a devata control a planetary mass? If we look at our body, we find that it has many parts, toes, fingers, thighs, abdomen, chest, neck, head, eyes etc. Each is placed at a distance from each other. It is all controlled by one souls who is residing in the heart. How can one small soul control such a huge body? Why is it that if a small ant bites the toe and we get a sensation. The medical experts may say, it is the nervous system that gives the pleasure and pain to the soul residing in the heart. Thus it is the connection that exists between a body and a soul that makes it work and experience. Body is not Soul. This connection is by the grace of GOD . It exists by his will and it is destroyed by his will. When this connection ceases, soul leaves the body, we say body is dead. Thus the body is immaterial, it is the connection that God establishes makes it as a body of  a soul. [Soul is not present in the every part of the body yet it controls].

Now this connection can exist even between a soul and a mass. Just as a human body can respond to the stimulus or desires of a soul, so can a mass of planetary body can respond to a the soul in charge. If the connection described earlier exists, the soul can even control the entire mass of the planet. Also by the will of GOD, a soul can acquire multiple bodies if God extends multiple connections. Thus the Devata named Surya has a body of his own,which is akin to us but illustrious of light [tejomaya]. He also has a control over Suryamandal, Surya Rashmi and Surya tatva. God within Surya makes this possible.

Just as we get up in the morning and go about our daily chores, so does Surya with his astral body. But our chores and its effect are limited to our family and surrounding, and society in which we live and have influence. Sun has the whole world under its influence. So does other planets.

• Brahaspati is foremost
• Then comes Sun and Moon
• Then Mars, Rahu, Ketu and Shukra
• Mercury
• Shani

These are the planets that are destined to affect human life and world in general. Other erroneous bodies like Pluto, Neptune etc. do not have divine sanction to affect human life. If we think that planetary mass as a scientific phenomena affects us, and just because Pluto and etc. also exist along with them, and should affect us extending the principles of planetary interaction, this would be folly, and the whole Jyotish would become indeterminate.

How do these planets influence us?

• Jyotish has  four  entities
• Bhava
• Graha
• Nakshatra
• Rasi
• Thus we have yuti phala
• Bhava - Rasi yuti
• Rasi - Graha phala
• Graha - Bhava phala
• Graha - Nakshatra phala

These are well established by God in the Vedanga, and thus are orders of Lord to Planets to act accordingly as per their positions. Planets do not default on this. Thus runs the great cosmic Clock in the Bhuvarloka.

• God never breaks the rules established by him as he is SatyaSankalpa.
• Yet he always bestows his grace on his devotees.
• Both statements being right, the world witnesses a dynamic display of auspicious qualities of GOD in upholding the righteousness even under anomalies.

7th House - Marriage Affairs Women

• If moon and Jupiter are in 7th from karakamsha the person will have very beautiful wife [Atisundari] 
• Venus in the seventh from karakamsha, the wife will be sensuous [Kaamvathi]
• While Mercury indicates wife well versed in arts [Kalaavathi]
• The Sun so placed will give wife well protected [Rakshitha]
• Saturn well placed will give pious wife [tapasvini]
• Saturn weak will give sick wife [rujadya]
• Saturn afflicted will give wife elder in age [Vayoadhika]
• Rahu so placed will give a wife, who is already somebody’s widow [Vidhwa]
• Seventh from upapada if there is a benefic, wife will be roopavati [beautiful], bhavya [fortunate], gunanvita[virtuous]
• Mercury and Rahu there, wife will be stout [sthulangi]
• if Mercury is in rasi of Mars then wife will have nasal disorders
• if Shani and Rahu then one will shun or desert his wife  on account of calumny

If one has vyabhichara yoga in the horoscope and if seventh house has :

1. Sun then one will have illicit relations with a barren woman
2. Moon then akin to sign, rasi [Virgo-virgins, Libra-prostitutes etc]
3. Mars then with young models
4. Mercury then with wives of rich men or traders, or harlots
5. Saturn then with workers,menials unclean etc
6. Rahu, Ketu with minors

The breasts of the would be wife will be :

1. Sick and weak if Saturn is in the seventh
2. Sun will give urdhwa kooch [prominent]
3. Jupiter will give hard [kathinstani]
4. Mars will give attractive [sustani]
5. Venus will give sthulastani [bulky and excellent]
6. Moon will give small and uneven
7. Rahu will give lambastani

The seventh navamsa if it is exalted then one will marry woman of superior race.

Bheemasena was the first to marry among Pandavas. He married even before Yudhisthira although Yudhisthira was elder, Vedvyasa appeared and urged Bheemasena to marry Hidimbi [mother of Ghatotkach].

Ulupi was a widow of a snake king from Naagloka, she was childless and hence urged Arjun to give her a child [as per her husbands’ wishes]. Arjun initially refused, but later after repeated requests obliged and Iravant was born. As he was born to a widow, he was exterminated from the land of Nagas, Ulupi raised him in Devaloka.

Iravant fought bravely in Mahabharata, while fighting Alamban both used maya to counter each other, at one stage Iravant tooka a form of a huge snake covering entire battle field and challenged Alamban, Alamban then took a form of huge Garuda and killed him. Ghatotkacha killed Alamban to avenge his brothers death.

Interpreting Strengths - Graha Bala

Planets are considered strong in various ways in different circumstances. 

1. A planet by just being in good houses is declared strong when analysing effect revealing capability of the planet.
2. A planet when analysing to deliver auspicious results can be considered strong over others if it is vargottama.
3. A planet when differentiating between two aspects, delivers stronger results if in own navamsa or mitra navamsa
4. A planet to give exemplary results can be considered for strength only when exalted.
5. A planet if considered for magnanimity of results becomes strong only by occupying vaisheshika amsa only.
6. A planet is strong to deliver effort only when it is retrograde or with moon.
7. A planet will dominate if it has strength in saptavargaja bala.
8. A planet will deliver [results of amsas] in proportion to half its strength of saptavargaja bala.
9. In both above cases saptavargaja bala is multiplied by planetary anka due to exaltation or debilitation etc placements

1. For ex. planet gets 60,45,30,15,8,4,2,1,0 ankas in rasi and amsas etc for exaltation to debilitation.
2. This anka is multiplied by the saptavargaja bala.
3. That means if a horoscope 1 has  fifth saturn exalted in rasi chart with shadbala of 3 rupas his effects will be 60X3 =180
4. If horoscope 2 has fifth Saturn in own house in rasi chart with shadbala of 8 rupas, his effects will be 30X 8=240
5. The horoscope 2 will have more happiness of fifth house than horoscope 1 even though horoscope 1 has exalted Saturn
6. Similarly when such position occur in navamsa effects will be 60X3/2 =90. This much will be effect of navamsa, trimasamsa etc.
7. Now if a planet gives one result in rasi chart say seventh house, its anka X bala = y;  and same seventh house result in navamsa is comes to be 2y then navamsa result will prevail rather than rasi result. Here if two marriages are predicted in navamsa and one in rasi, than person will have two marriages only even if rasi is not showing any signs of it. Contrarily if rasi is powerful only one marriage will take place, however the other one will end up as affair [not shown in rasi].
8. Thus horoscope results should not be declared purely on rasi chart. When many people take part in the race, some end up 3rd, 10th, 11th, last. These results are due to 1/4 , 1/2 aspects.

Sometimes a sportsman does well in particular country and fails in other, this is because of digbala in that direction.

A particular day also happens to be good because of digbala.

We always get saved at the nth moment in a crisis , this is due to aspect of the benefic.

However things go wrong , we come out unfazed , the planet is well placed in amsas

We are happy with whatever little we have , so all the planets are in kendra.

Numerology

People are mad about numerology, there are many numerologist who vow to give you accurate predictions on just your date of birth. What is a date of birth? Why does it affect my life? Does this have any scriptural backing?

Lets say somebody’s born on 10 august in a year 1956.

What is number 10, is it 10th day on a given month. But what astrological phenomenon does it represent? It is just a number for reference, a reference from Jan 1st which also does not have any astro significance. Surely sun might not have crossed exact 10degrees in a given month on 10 day. ie 10 august does not necessarily means 10degrees Leo for sun. So how can it be governed by sun.

After 12 midnight you are governed by another number, but I was taught days are governed by sunrise and sunset. how can my characteristics change by midnight. There is astro phenomena at midnight except for activities of extra-terrestrial according to horror films.

By what means is august 8th month. Capricorn is by no means 1st month by any scriptures or astrological study. Leo is governed by sun, but 8 is governed by Saturn (numerology). Then 1956 what is the reference for this number to govern my destiny, from where did this number spring up. AD1 itself is subject of dispute.

Where is the sanction of these theories by eminent rishis or backing of astrology (finally numerology relies on planets to accord predictions).

This numerology is guffaw of so called people of intuition based soothsaying.

But yes people born on same day share some common qualities and events because Atmakaraka remains same for all of them, sometimes these may share a moon sign also, hence most of the events may match among these same day borns irrespective of place and time of birth. But these cannot be predicted through some accorded numbers of convenience that we call as date of birth.

Planets, its state and effects

A planet has strength and placement by which its effects can be known. 

1. If a planet is strong and placed well in exaltation, own house, it is in a state of  awakening, people realize their fruits of success practically and enjoy fame.
2. If such a planet is ordinarily placed, one will get good effects only in the state of dream. He will not enjoy fame in an awakening state.
3. If such a planet is debilitated or in enemy house then, when good factors are revolving a man would be sleeping to take advantage of them, success passes by without having enjoyed.
4. When a planet is exalted in 6, 8, 12 then even if effect exists, the person will not be able to enjoy it. Like full wealth but completely diseased body to enjoy. A prosperous and famous son, who does not visit the parents house, or a beautiful wife not on speaking terms.
5. However a  weak a planet be, if placed well, gives complete satisfaction of enjoyments (however little or short lived that may be) An ordinary but obedient son, a minister of a small prosperous state. a clerk having sole charge of entire office, etc.

Even for a very successful person, everyday will not be an eventful one, this is because of rotation of planets through various states causing happiness and miseries to the people on the earth.

Planets and Yogas

Yoga means a relationship, planets have relationship in a horoscope giving rise to good and bad effect. Planets can have following relationship: 

1. exchange of houses
2. mutual aspect
3. mutual conjunction
4. mutual angular placements
5. mutual trinal placements
6. mutual conjunction in divisional charts
7. mutual exchange in divisional charts
8. mutual  exchange of stars

Houses 1 4 7 10 are Vishnu sthanas, Houses 5 ,9 are Laxmi sthana. When there is a relationship between these two sets of planets ,it gives to raja yoga. People born in this yoga enjoy name and fame. They are leader among their groups. They are born lucky and enjoy success and become wealthy. Those born in royal clan ascend thrones and others become wealthy or influential. People born with certain raja yogas irrespective of birth status become Rulers. It is the planets that make one rule or be subservient to others. It is the planet makes one rise to the heights of the success , or fall to crest of poverty. It is the planets that give happiness and miseries. So propitiate planets to gain peace of mind and prosperity because Bramha has commanded these planets to give peace and solace to those who worship them.

Accuracy of predictions

Phalani grahacharena suchayanti manishinah ko vaktah taratamyasya tamekam vedhasam vina

Can astrologers claim he can give most accurate predictions?

The above shloka says Astrologers can only indicate the results of the planets , only Bramha can give exact quantum of the result.

This shows that when somebody has forecasted a good phase , it cannot turn out to be opposite. but how good? it is not the purview  of the astrologer. Only bramha can say that because he is the provider. Lets dwell more on it.

a capacity of astrologer is limited to the domain he is inspecting. what are domains, luck pours from heavens, it also pours from blessings of elders, it also is enhanced by good wishes of friends and acquaintance. now how much each influence is subject to the domain under analysis. friends good wishes can get nullified by curses of elders. heavens gift can overcome a curse.

similarly a heavens wrath can overtake a boon. if you are predicting only considering a previous gift , and overlook a present curse , predictionswould go offtrack.

example: Shiva had given boons to jarasandha kichaka, bakasura,hidimba etc boons of being never faced with death, immortality. all astrologers looking at these horoscopes say they are immortals.even Indra and others  could not match these demons because of the boons and had to flee. suggesting immortality. Bheemasena killed all these ,that means he has overtaken these boons. Bheemasena was more powerful, for these demons a  brush with more powerful nullified their boons. Bheemasena was devotee of Krishna , if Bheemasena could kill these demons mean he is superior to Shiva, because He is devotee of Krishna , Krishna is supreme than Vayu (Bheema) and Shiva.

Only to prove this Krishna avoided killing jarasandha ,to the extent he settledin Dwaraka than Mathura. he wanted to show if my devotee can nullify the boons of Shiva ,so can I. only superiors can overtake juniors’ orders.Hence when sages predict , they predicted immortality to jarasandha, because they fell short of analysis beyond Shiva. However VedVyasa predicted death to these.

Never hurt elders, superiors and Devatas, these can foretell misfortune, even death, even if you are in good phase of your life.

Bhasvanme bhasyet tatvam chandrshcha ahlaadkrudbhavet|Mangalomangalam dadhyatbudhascha budhatam dishet||Gururme  gurutam dadhyatkavishcha kavitam dishet|shanishcha sham prapyatu ketuh ketum jayerpayet||rahurme rahyedrogam grahah santu kargrahah| navam navam mamaishwaryam dishantvete navagrahah||shane dinamaneh suno svanekgunsanmane|arishtam haramebhishtam kuru ma kuru sankatam|| hareranugraharthaya shatrunam nigrahaya cha vadiraj yatiproktam graha stotram sada pateth||

Let sun give us knowledge of the philosophy and moon give the solace of mind. Let mars give the auspiciousness mercury the intelligence. Jupiter confer the greatness and venus the ability to write. Let saturn help obtain the peace and ketu lead us to victory. Rahu clear all the diseases and all the planets be handy towards the comforts. Let nine planets increase the wealth nine folds and sani reveal all the many good attributes day by day. Let all the undesired vanish and desirable be obtained and let not there be any dangers. With the grace of Narayana let enemies be vanquished as this prayer by the sage vadiraja read all the time.

With this prayer i present the tenets of astrology as taught to me in accordance with the words of sages. Astrology is one of the vedanga .means a study  helpful in understanding vedas.

Astrology is the eyes of vedas hence the name Jyotish. However one learns vedas hard ,it is only with help of astrology the great mystery can be unravelled. Once unravelled  by astrology,it leads to GOD vision.

Normal eyes  can see physical obstacles of life. they can avoid mishaps while walking on the road. What about those mishaps that befall men unknowingly in form of destiny. These are unseen obstacles (adrushta). Only  astrology shows these adrushta and also dryshta as well. so this is boon to mankind given by God to tide over the ocean of birth and death namely Life.

There is a bha chakra in the world in the heavens comprising of stars and zodiac. these are comprised of 12 rasis and twenty seven stars. Also nine planets that revolve in this bha chakra Sun is the chief among these planets represents soul. Moon the mind. Mars the strength. Mercury the speech. Jupiter the knowledge. Venus the pleasures. Saturn the miseries. Rahu ignorance. Ketu liberation.

every thing in this world is governed by these planets. Praying them brings about good fortune and success.
